That's the question asked on the phenomenally popular Fiverr and Biverr websites. As people have been seeking new ways to earn a bit of cash on the side, websites like Fiverr and Biverr have grown in popularity.

Fiverr is a website where you post an activity you are prepared to do for $5. Website visitors may then hire you to do it. Postings can be fun, such as "I will write your name in the sand for $5", or more serious "I will write you an article and post it to three major backlinking sites for $5".

How Do Sites Like Fiverr Work?

People post up their service and the price - once somebody wants that service they contact the provider and the job's done. The buyer pays the website, through Paypal. Paypal has a micro-payments system, that the site owner sets up, that automatically splits the incoming money between the site owner and the service provider.

The site owner gets the fees immediately. The service provider gets paid either immediately, or the money goes into their account. Some sites get Paypal to handle all the payments, so the service provider is paid immediately; some sites will require the service provider to have a minimum amount in their account before they can request a payment.

• A Paypal account (you take a cut of everybody's fees)

There's also a section where service buyers can post jobs they want doing for $50 - a great place to pick up some extra money maybe.

Gig Bucks

With Gigbucks, you receive an email when somebody wants to use your services. You accept/decline the job. You can set your gig prices at $5, $10, $15, $20, $25. Gig Bucks deduct 18-20% from the fee as their payment. Funds are available for withdrawal 10 days after you've done the work. Payment is by PayPal, $3 minimum. Website: http://www.gigbucks.com

Gig Hour

Gighour's another website like fiverr, offering gigs for $3, $5, $7 and $10. It looks to me like it might be owned by the same company as GigBucks as the sites look identical and have the same fees amounts. Payment is by Paypal. Website: http://gighour.com/

With this website like fiverr, you can set your service price at $1, $5, $10 or $20. A 20% fee is deducted by the website before you're paid. You can withdraw your money after 14 days. Payment is via Paypal. Website: http://www.gigfor5.com

Gig Me 5

With this website like fiverr, you post your service offered, all services are fixed at $5, then you'll receive an email if somebody wants to hire you. Everything is anonymous and you have 48 hours to accept/reject the work. If you go away on holiday you can suspend your listing. You're paid 48 hours after you complete the service, the money goes into your account (less GigMe5's fees) - you can withdraw the cash once you have $15. Hundoville

This website like fiverr is for tasks priced at $100. You receive an email when somebody wants your service - and you have 5 days to accept/decline it. You can withdraw your cash 10 days after you've completed the work, minimum payout is $40. Hundoville deduct 15% from the $100, you get paid the remaining $85. Website: http://www.hundoville.com

Just a Five

Choose to price your services at $5, $10 or $20. Start your listing with the words "I'm gonna". You receive an email when somebody wants what you're offering - and you have 72 hours (3 days) to accept/decline. You can withdraw the funds 48 hours after completing the tasks. Twenty Ville

This website like fiverr is part of the FittyTown group. On this site you price your services at $20. Payment is via Paypal. Website: http://www.twentyville.com

Task Army

This is a more respectable marketplace for selling your services, which you can price at $19, $49 or $99. It mostly targets website tasks and IT functions - so perfect for any IT graduates or students who want to make a little extra.... or entrepreneurs who want affordable technical tasks doing. Up Hype

On this website like fiverr, you can sell your services for a fixed price of $2, $5, $8, $16 or $24. You receive an email when somebody wants you to work for them, you have 72 hours to accept/decline the work. UpHype deduct their fees of 29-37% before they put the rest into your account. You can withdraw the money after 3 days, no minimum but you do pay Paypal fees so it's worth hanging on and cashing out in bigger chunks. Payment is by Paypal. Website: http://uphype.com/

Zeerk

Similar to the other websites like fiverr, but there are no fees for $2 and $5 gigs - so it's a great way to get started. You receive an email and have 72 hours to accept/decline the work. You can withdraw the funds on the same day your money's paid to you. Website: http://zeerk.com/

The Internet is a changing beast - and I personally checked all the websites above when I wrote this. Over time, it's possible 1-2 of them might cease to exist - but the list will be checked/amended and added to on a regular basis. I hate to find a broken link as much as you do!

ALWAYS make sure you understand the Terms & Conditions of using sites like fiverr. Make sure you know:

• If you are allowed to post the services you want to offer (no porn, nudity, illegal stuff basically)
• How much will be deducted from your 'pay' for using the service
• Is there a minimum amount before you can withdraw your funds
• How long do you have to wait before you can get your hands on your cash

Everybody will have their own favourite site to use, it might be that you're inundated with work from one site, or maybe you like sites where you can get fast cash in the next 1-3 days simply by doing something easy like spelling out a company name in white pebbles on your green lawn and taking a photo of it (Yes, that'd be a great easy way to earn $5!).
