Artfire is not a UK site. It's an american site just like etsy that allows UK sellers. You can't even search for UK sellers on the site. I knew a totally free service seemed too good to be true.

earner profile image

earner Hub Author 23 months ago

Thanks for that, I hadn't spotted that Artfire isn't for the UK. This article was supposed to list UK sites like Etsy, to help UK people sell their goods online with the confidence you get when selling in your own country and currency.

I've removed artfire now as it's not a UK site like Etsy. I think I was fooled as it was priced in ££s.

Another good site to try is adflyer.co.uk - not just for hand made stuff, but very easy to use and low fees

I think going to the future, online shopping will be the way to do it. With more and more people having less time to shop the traditional way, there is really a growing market to suffice the needs of these online shoppers.

Great article. Been looking for some original gifts and there's some fab suggestions. Another site I found recently is www.iapetus.co.uk. It's the website for a gallery in my home town of Malvern in Worcester which is full of lovely handmade jewellery & gifts. They're also a lovely bunch in there...very friendly!

Katie Smith 21 months ago

Some great suggestions on here, another site that may be on interest is www.uglybegone.com . They also sell stylish gifts etc from makers in the UK.

Shopwindoz is a good place to start an online shop. A friend of mine does quite well with their service.

I think it's important for people to try all the sites if they can, to sell their handmade gifts online. Every site has a different audience and you won't know which one likes your style and gifts most until you've tried them all.

In the run up to Xmas, this is now the time to start planning Xmas sales - most people will sell more than half their yearly turnover just for to the Xmas shoppers.

retailer 19 months ago

If you make baby and children's products, then www.kiddiebase.co.uk is another one to be aware of. It's not handmade only but has a lot of handmade sellers on there. It's very new but seems to be attracting a lot of interest.

jill 18 months ago
